We Need Help with Art Sense & Arts Attack

What Is Art Sense?  Art Sense is a volunteer program that exposes our K5 and 1st Grade children to fine art & artists, various art disciplines, and basic elements of art (lines, color, space/shape, form).

What Is Arts Attack?  Arts Attack is a NEW volunteer program especially designed for our 2nd Grade children.  It will also expose our 2nd Grade children to fine art & artists, various art disciplines, and basic elements of art (lines, color, space/shape, form).

What Do I Have To Do?  Volunteer to do an art activity with your child’s class and attend orientation from 9:30 to 10:30 am.  If you did Art Sense last year, just pick up your lesson, but   Coordinators need to be at one of the orientations.  Teaching notebooks are also in the PTO Room.

How Often Can I Help With My Child's Art Sense Projects?  Depends upon how much time you have & how many other parents sign up to help.  An Art Sense Project will be done every other week beginning the week of September 25th on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays in each of the K5 through 1st Grade classes.

I Can't Draw and I'm Not Creative!  You do not have to be artistic, just enthusiastic! Instructions, supplies and examples of each lesson will be available to you prior to each art project in the Art Sense Room.

More Questions?  Contact the Art Sense Committee or the Arts Attack Committee.

What about a schedule and material?  Download the following for Arts Attack:  Calendar and (see above for this weeks' outline.)  Note:  Both documents were created with Microsoft Word.

  Order Your KidsArt Cards

During the fall semester your child will design his or her very own note cards!  As a fundraiser for our organization, all of our children's note cards are being professionally printed - in color on white paper and in classic black on ivory paper - and offered to parents at an extremely attractive price.  These cards can be used for Christmas cards, personal stationary, or as a gift.  Wouldn't a grandparent love to have an original artwork design from their grandchild?

All cards will be 4 ¼" X 5 ½”, a perfect size for including your favorite 3 ½" X 5” snapshot.  You may further enhance the black on ivory cards by coloring with colored pencils or painting with watercolors.  Use your imagination!  Be sure to come by the school office to see samples on our KidsArt display or check out the KidsArt company at their
web site.  Color cards will be packaged 20 to a set and black on ivory cards will be packaged 50 to a set.  The cards come wrapped in sparkling cellophane with a ribbon to enclose the beautiful package.  The cards come wrapped in sparkling cellophane with a ribbon to enclose the beautiful package.  The cards are great for your personal use or for gift giving and help to instill pride and self confidence in your child.  You may purchase as many sets as you wish for $18 each.  A substantial portion of the profit from every sale will benefit our school.

The children will bring home two works of art on cards that they created, a sample of a finished card, and a blank note card form that sibling or friends may use to submit another design.  If you would like to make more cards, please call the office and we can send more blank cards home.

To purchase, please complete any forms and return with your payment to your child's teacher by Friday, October 6th to ensure a delivery the week of November 27th.

Thank you for your support.  For further information please contact the Arts Committee.

Madison Station has a new Arts Program, KidzArt, and is offering a tuition-based after school art’s program in partnership with KidzArt.

This arts program offers unique art enrichment designed to help  students of all ages enhance artistic skills and knowledge, build self-confidence and grow as creative thinkers and problem solvers.

The KidzArt drawing-based curriculum has been developed by professional artists and educators to meet and exceed the National Visual Art Standards.  KidzArt programs have benefited students for over 15 years and are currently offered in hundreds of communities in 27 states.

New classes are formed on a monthly basis, so you can have flexibility in your child’s participation.  KidzArt meets in the MSE library or cooking lab on Tuesdays or Thursday afternoons from 2:15 until 3:15 p.m.  You can view their website at kidzartms.com and then contact them directly at info@tkidzartms.com to discuss the art classes!

If you can dream, you can draw...

It should be noted that 2nd Graders are having KidzArt as one of their rotations in school.  To see more information go the Kidz Art web site
