Fall of 2006 Project

This semester’s project benefited a local Jackson child in association with Make-A-Wish.

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions.  From their humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, they’ve evolved into an organization that grants a child’s wish in the U.S. every 41 minutes.

Have you ever wanted to go to Disney World or have you ever been there?  We sponsored a child's wish.  Xavier Morris wishes to go to Disney World, and MSE's students made his wish come true with a walk-a-thon on November 2nd!

Xavier Morris, 12, high-fives his new friends at the walk-a-thon Friday morning.
Students have raised over $6,200 to send Morris, of Jackson, and his family to Disney World Jan. 1

Our goal was $5000 or about $5/child, but our school went beyond the call by raising $8000.  WOW!

Thank you to all the students and parents for giving and volunteering to make MSE’s Make-A-Wish project so successful.  You made our Wish for Xavier a dream come true!  We also  want to thank our Madison County Sheriff's Office and the Madison County Road Department for keeping us safe from traffic.  A big thanks to Pizza Inn for their donations and Susie Sounds for making our walk more pleasant with music.  And a big, big thanks to the coordinators: Vicky McIntosh, Genevieve Payne, and Monty & Amanda Barton.

Kindergarten students make their way back to the school Friday morning after participating.
Students donated money to take a cool morning stroll down Reunion Parkway.

Parents and grandparents were invited to join students as they walked, and many participated!
